High quality, robust and reliable equipment is essential for any photo-jouranlistic work undertaken. As a "one man news crew", a full range of equipment is carried to cater for all eventualities. The actual camera equipment is only one small aspect of the overall package which includes a full selection of Lowe Pro Camera Bags, computer and editing equipment, safety equipment including helmets and harnesses and other specialist items such as flying suits, custom made photo vests and wetsuits for those more challenging assignments.

Canon EOS Digital SLR bodies are exclusively used due to their high performance, reliability and operational parameters. A selection of Canon and Sigma lenses are used in conjunction with the DSLR bodies. Current equipment includes:

For transporting and carrying equipment, Lowe Pro professional camera bags and Peli Cases are exclusively used to ensure the safety of all equipment. The latest addition to the bag collection includes the Lowpro Dryzone 200, a fully waterproof camera bag system that will maintain its waterproof integrity even if the bag falls into water. The unique design also means that the bag will float if it goes overboard. This latest addition is due to the increasing assignments in and around the sea including kite surfing and sailing photo-shoots. Storm shield camera covers protect the equipment while shooting in less than desirable weather.

Mobile operations are conducted with two high specification laptops, allowing reports to be written and images edited at the scene of any major news story. Mobile broadband technology then allows for these reports and images to be transmitted to the various news outlets on scene, thus greatly reducing the turnaround time on any news story.

For editing, post production and transmitting of news, images and features, the office has a full range of high specification desktop systems that make up the newsdesk. These desktops have many functions including communications, image editing and post production activities, image storage and archiving, RSS feeds from various news agencies and are used in conjunction with a dedicated phone line and high speed Internet connection. The RSS feeds along with 24 hour news from Sky and the BBC ensure that no story goes unnoticed.

With safety being paramount, a full selection of helmets, goggles, ropes and harnesses ensure that assignments can be undertaken in any condition, including severe weather or other dangerous environments. Specially designed arm band ID card holders along with high visibility clothing are always carried to ensure clear identification in situations involving potential hostilities, a high emergency service and police presence or while operating in or around airfields and military installations.
